Memorandum to Players


FORMAT, QUALIFYING PLACES, AND TIES

  • FORMAT. This qualifier is a one-day 18-hole stroke play competition.
  • QUALIFYING SPOTS. The field of 53 contestants will compete for 3 qualifying place and two alternate positions into a sectional qualifying field for the 119th U.S. Open Championship.
  • PLAYOFF. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places or alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.

PRO SHOP, PRACTICE FACILITIES, AND LOCKER ROOM

The golf shop, practice facilities (compliments of CC of Troy), and locker room will open at 6:30am.

 

COURSE SETUP
Play will be from the Black Tees measured to approximately 6,663 yards (72.5/133).

 

REGISTRATION AND START OF PLAY

Players are requested to register upon arrival in the golf shop. Players are requested to report to the first tee at least five minutes prior to their starting time, where they will receive important instructions and notices.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds are available on Sunday, May 12 after 11:00am and may be scheduled by contacting the host club at 518-274-4207. The rate is $40, which includes use of a cart and the club’s practice facilities. Practice rounds are available prior to May 12 at a fee of $70.

 

FOOD SERVICE

  • No breakfast is available at the club
  • Complimentary water and energy bars/bananas will be available on the 1st and 10th tees.
  • Lunch will be provided by the NYSGA starting at 1:00pm in the men’s lounge (players only). 

 

CADDIES
A competitor may bring his own caddie or carry his own clubs. There are no caddies available through the host club.

 

RAIN DATE

If required, the rain date will be May 14, 2019.

 

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this qualifier.

  • USGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2019 USGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GROOVE CONDITION. The players’ clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.  See Model Local Rule G-2. The exception for Ping Eye2 Irons manufactured before March 31, 1990 is not in effect. (click here).
  • CONFORMING BALLS AND DRIVER HEADS. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • "ONE BALL RULE". The “One Ball" Condition will be in effect.
  • DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES. The use of a distance measuring device during the stipulated round is not permitted.

 

TRANSPORTATION/CART REQUESTS

Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect will be in effect. A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to his or her ability. As required by the ADA, the USGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. WITHDRAWAL FROM QUALIFYING

To withdraw, notify the USGA (complete this online form, call 908-326-1950, or e-mail champs@usga.org) and the Official in Charge (see below) prior to the scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions.

 

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. To view the NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy, click here.

 

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their appropriate starting tee
