Terms of the Competition
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Gender: Open to male amateur golfers.
- Membership: Players must be either (1) a resident of New York State or (2) belong to an NYSGA member club.
- Age: Players must be 15-18 years old as of July 27, 2022.
- USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index, which are provided free to juniors via the NYSGA eClub (not valid for golfers in RDGA or MGA region).
ENTRY INFORMATION
- Entries: All players must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted. A player may only submit one entry. Any player found to have submitted more than one entry may be subject to disqualification.
- Fee: There are two fees for this championship:
- $25 Qualifying Fee for non-exempt players
- $150 Championship Fee required of all players applying for the Championship, including exempt and qualifying place winners
- Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, June 22, 2022). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of the reason.
- Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 or via email at deb@nysga.org): Entry fee less $20.
FORMAT, DIVISIONS, & TIES
- Format: This Championship will be conducted over 36 holes of individual stroke play.
- Divisions: There are three Division competing in this Championship:
- Girls' 18U Division
- Boys' 18U Division
- Boys' 14U Division
- Qualifying: Players in the Boys' 18U Division who are not exempt must earn a place in the Championship field by advancing through one of the sectional qualifying locations listed below. There is no qualifying required for players in the Girls' 18U or Boys 14U Divisions.
- Age Groups: In addition to competing in the overall Championship, players will also compete within the following age divisions: 12 & Under, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
- Schedule: The tentative schedule of events is listed below.
- Monday, July 25 // Practice Rounds
- Tuesday, July 26 // Round 1 (18 Holes)
- Wednesday, July 27 // Round 2 (18 Holes)
- Ties: The player with the lowest score for 18 holes will be the champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play. If there is a tie for the winner in the Age Groups, the tie will be broken using the USGA's method of matching scorecards.
SECTIONAL QUALIFYING SCHEDULE - BOYS' 15-18 DIVISION ONLY
All non-exempt players in the Boys's 15-18 Division must qualify in order to earn a spot in this Championship. Once entries close, the number of qualifying spots available per qualifying site will be available and posted. A playoff will be used to break ties for the last qualifying spot and either alternate position.

*DUAL QUALIFIER (NYS MEN'S AMATEUR)
A dual qualifier allows boys to qualify for both the NYS Men's Amateur & Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship at the same time. To dual qualify, an entrant must register for both championships separately and select the same qualifying site. Dual qualifiers will not be permitted to use a motorized golf cart or a caddie.
EXEMPT PLAYERS
Players in the Boys' 18U Division are exempt into the 2022 Championship if they are within one of the categories listed below. The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players must submit an entry prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, June 22, 2022).
- E1. From the 2021 NYS Boys’ 18U Junior Amateur Championship, the 10 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 10th place.
- E2. From the 2021 NYS Boys’ 14U Junior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 5th place.
- E3. From the 2022 NYSPHSAA Boys' Golf Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 5th place.
- E4. Most recent (as of July 27, 2022) winner of the following regional events:

- PGA Junior Championship Qualifiers (WNY, CNY, NENY, MET PGA Sections)
- International Junior Masters
- SDGA Junior Classic
- BDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship

CADDIES AND GOLF CARTS
The use of a caddie and/or motorized golf cart is prohibited for all rounds. Push carts are permitted.
ADVICE IS NOT PERMITTED
Parents, spectators, and/or coaches are not permitted to provide instruction or advice during the official practice round or either Championship round. A player may be subject to penalty if he or she does not stop the offending spectator from providing advice.
