TERMS OF THE COMPETITION


 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • This championship is open to female amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members.
  • To compete as a Mid-Amateur, golfers must be at least 25 years old as of July 14, 2025.
  • Golfers must have an active, up-to-date USGA Handicap Index issued by their NYSGA Member club, with a max of 12.0 (Amateurs) and 16.0 (Mid-Amateurs).

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries & Deadline: Players must register online prior to 12PM EST on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $250
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 // champs@nysga.org)

    • PRIOR TO deadline: $20 Fee

    • AFTER deadline: $50/$125 Fee

    • WITHIN 7 DAYSNone


FIELD SIZE, FIELD SELECTION & WAITLIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field Size: 84 players (57 - Amateurs, 27 Mid-Amateurs)
  • Field Selection & Waitlist: Registration for this championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. If either division is oversubscribed, the final field will be determined by the 57 or 27 players with the lowest Handicap Index as of the entry deadline. The waitlist will be ordered from "low-to-high" using the Handicap Index as of the entry deadline.
  • Handicap Review: All players are subject to Handicap review to ensure that their Handicap is up-to-date and not manipulated by entering unusually low scores. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP, FORMAT, & SCHEDULE

  • Format
    • Amateur: 54 holes, individual stroke play with a cut after 36-holes to the low-30 and ties.
    • Mid-Amateur: 36 holes, individual stroke play.
  • Course Yardage
    • Amateur: 6,014y - par 70
    • Mid-Amateur: 5,457y - par 70
  • Low Junior: A division to recognize the best Junior, played concurrently with the Women's Amateur.
  • Schedule: The schedule below is for Amateurs (54-holes), Mid-Amateurs will play 18-holes on Monday/Tuesday.
    • Sunday, July 13 // Practice Rounds
    • Monday, July 14 // Rounds 1 & 2 (36 Holes)
    • Tuesday, July 15 // Round 3 (18 Holes)
  • Ties: The player with the lowest score after regulation will be the champion. In the event of a tie for either championship and the low junior division, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play.

 

2025 U.S. WOMEN'S AMATEUR EXEMPTION
The winner of the 2025 NYS Women's Amateur Championship will earn an exemption to compete in the
2025 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, played August 4-10 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon.

 

  

 

LOW JUNIOR DIVISION (18U)
There is a division to recognize the low junior golfer (ages 18 and younger) in the field with a trophy. It is played concurrently with the 2025 NYS Women's Amateur Championship. This division is ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard - see below.

Juniors are also eligible for the
2025 NYS Girls' 18U Junior Amateur Championship, hosted at McGregor Links CC on July 1-2.

 

RANKINGS
The 2025 NYS Women's Amateur Championship is ranked by
World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and the low junior division is ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

COURSE YARDAGE

  • Amateur: 6,014y - par 70 
  • Mid-Amateur: 5,457y - par 70

 

CADDIES, GOLF CARTS & PUSH CARTS

  • Caddies: A competitor may bring their own caddie or carry their own clubs. There are no caddies available through the host club. A player is not required to employ a caddie for any stage of the championship. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect (see NYSGA Policies below).
  • Carts: The use of a golf cart is outlined below. Payment information will be provided in the Memorandum to Players.
    • Amateur: The use of a golf cart is prohibited for all rounds including practice rounds.

    • Mid-Amateur: The use of a golf cart is approved for all rounds.
