MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

FORMAT, QUALIFYING PLACES, AND TIES

  • FORMAT. 18-holes of individual stroke play
  • QUALIFYING SPOTS. 4 qualifying spots and 2 alternates.
  • PLAYOFF. A hole-by-hole playoff will be used to break a tie for the final qualifying spot, first alternate, and/or second alternate. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of play.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds are available ($60 w/cart) on Sunday, August 3 - use the instructions below to schedule a practice round starting time online. Local players are encouraged to contact the pro shop to schedule a practice round time on a date/time that works for both parties. . If you need assistance, please call the NYSGA office at 315-471-6979.

  • Select your desired tee time. You may add other players in the field to your grouping. DO NOT remove players without their prior approval.


The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect for the official practice round.

 

PRO SHOP AND PRACTICE FACILITIES

The golf shop and practice facilities will open at 6:15am. Complimentary balls will be available on the driving range.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Play will be from the Oak tee yardage, set to approximately 6,923 yards / par 72.
 

FOOD SERVICE

  • Club F&B services TBA.
  • On-course snacks and beverages will be provided by the NYSGA during the qualifying round - players/caddies only please.

REGISTRATION AND START OF PLAY
Players should report to the 1st tee ten (10) minutes prior to their starting time for announcements. There is no registration required when you arrive at Seven Oaks.

PUSH CARTS
The use of a pull cart is approved for this qualifier. None are available through the host club to rent so plan accordingly. Electronic golf bag carts are permitted but must not have seat attachment.

CADDIES
A competitor may bring their own caddie or carry their own clubs. There are no caddies available through the host club. A caddie is required to wear an NYSGA caddie bib, which will be provided at starting during announcements.

 

LIVE SCORING
Live scoring via the Golf Genius mobile app is required of one player (or caddie). Please download via their smartphone's app store (search "Golf Genius") in advance of their arrival to starting.

 

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this qualifier.

  • USGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Click here.
  • GROOVE CONDITION. The players’ clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.  See Model Local Rule G-2. The exception for Ping Eye2 Irons manufactured before March 31, 1990 is not in effect. (click here).
  • CONFORMING BALLS AND DRIVER HEADS. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • ONE BALL RULE. Is NOT in effect for any USGA qualifying rounds in 2024.
  • DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES. For all USGA qualifying rounds, the use of distance measuring devices to measure distance only is permitted.


PROHIBITING USE OF MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION (LOCAL RULE G-6)
Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect will be in effect. A breach will result in the general penalty, two-strokes, on each hole where the breach occurred.

REQUESTING USE OF A CART
A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to their ability. As required by the ADA, the USGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. To learn more and to submit the required form,

A disabled spectator may be permitted to use a golf cart. As required by the ADA, the NYSGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. To complete and return the required form,

WITHDRAWAL FROM QUALIFYING
To withdraw, notify the USGA (complete
this online form, call 908-326-1950, or e-mail champs@usga.org) and the Official in Charge (see below) prior to the scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions.

PACE OF PLAY
The
NYSGA Pace of Play Policy is in effect.


CODE OF CONDUCT
The NYSGA Code of Conduct Policy is in effect.


EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their starting tee.
