Memorandum to Players


FORMAT
This qualifier's format is 18 holes of stroke play.

TIES AND PLAYOFF
If there is a tie for the last qualifying spot or either of the alternate positions, there will be a sudden-death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. It is the players' responsibility to keep informed as to the time and status of any playoff.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

The course will be setup at 5,709 yards (par 72).

REGISTRATION

It is not necessary to check-in upon arrival at Tuscarora. Players must report to the first tee at least five minutes prior to their starting time, where they will receive important instructions and notices.

 

SPOT ALLOCATION

There are 2 qualifying and 2 alternates spots assigned to this qualifier.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

The club has tee times available for practice rounds on Monday, August 28th after 12pm for a fee of $40 (includes cart). To schedule a practice round tee time, call the Tuscarora pro shop at 315-673-2679 x3 and identify yourself as a participant in this qualifier.

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES
The pro shop and driving range will open at
7:00am. Practice balls will be provided courtesy of the NYSGA. The driving range is limited in distance to 190 yards. If you would like to use a full range, you can utilize the Marcellus Golf Club (2814 W Seneca Turnpike, Marcellus, NY 13108) which is 4 miles from Tuscarora. Please contact the Marcellus Golf Club club for pricing and hours of operation.

 

DRIVING RANGE

Is provided free of charge to all players and will be open starting one hour before the first starting time.

 

GOLF CARTS
The use of a golf cart is approved for all rounds. 

 

FOOD SERVICE
Food and beverage will be available in the clubhouse beginning at
11:00am (cash and credit). Water bottles and snacks will be provided on #1 for players only. Water will be available in coolers on the course.

 

CARTS,  USGA'S "ONE SEAT" POLICY AND HANDICAP CART REQUESTS
Players may ride in golf carts ($20 fee, paid to the pro shop) during a stipulated round. However, the USGA reserves the right to limit or suspend the use of golf carts due to inclement weather or unsafe use of the golf cart.

 

The USGA's "One-Seat" Policy (click here) permits either the player or the player's caddie to ride at any given time, but not at the same time.

 

Caddies requesting a handicap golf cart must complete the requiired form (see below). Contact the USGA Championship Department with questions at (908) 326-1950 or champs@usga.org.

 

CADDIES
A competitor may bring her own caddie. Caddies are not available through the host club.

 

PACE OF PLAY
It is a condition of this competition that the player shall play without undue delay and in accordance with any pace of play guidelines that the “Committee may establish” and with the prescribed penalties for slow play. The NYSGA will be closely monitoring the pace of play in this sectional qualifier.  NYSGA Pace of Play Policy will be sent directly to players in the field as a separate email and will be available at registration.

 

RAIN DATE

If required, the rain date will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018.

 

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

  • Conforming Clubs and Balls: Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and drivers (click here).
  • USGA Local Rules and Conditions of Competition (2018): To view these Rules and Conditions, click here.
  • Distance Measuring Devices: A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. For more information, visit www.usga.org/dmd
  • "One Ball" Condition: The “One Ball" Condition will be in effect. This condition requires players to use the same brand and type of golf ball throughout the stipulated round. Please refer to (click here) Appendix 1; Part B - Conditions of the Competition; 1-b (Specification of the Ball).
  • Request for Golf Cart: Handicap spectators or caddies can request a golf cart by completing the required form (click here).
  • Pace of Play: The NYSGA's Pace of Play policy will be utilized at this qualifier (click here).
  • Notice to Competitors: Players will receive the Notice to Players and Hole Location sheet on the first tee prior to their tee time.

 

“GROOVE AND PUNCH MARK SPECIFICATION” CONDITION
Clubs: Grooves – The player’s clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010 – See Decision 4-1/1 and championship entry for details.

 

WITHDRAWAL FROM QUALIFYING

Players who must from Qualifying must notify the USGA (908-326-1950 or via e-mail at champs@usga.org). If you must withdraw on the morning of the qualifier, please call or text the official-in-charge noted below.
