Memorandum to Players


FORMAT
This qualifier's format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play.


TIES AND PLAYOFF
If there is a tie for the last qualifying spot or either of the alternate positions, there will be a sudden-death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. It is the players' responsibility to keep informed as to the time and status of any playoff.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

The course will be setup from the black tees at 7,066 yards.

 

REGISTRATION

Players are requested to register beneath the NYSGA tent staged next to the practice putting green. Players must report to their starting tee at least five minutes prior to their starting time, where they will receive important instructions and notices.

 

SPOT ALLOCATION

There are 2 qualifying and 2 alternates spots assigned to this qualifier.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

The club is offering practice rounds on Sunday, September 16 after 2:00pm. The fee is $40.  The tee is available on a first come, first serve basis.

 

CADDIES

A player may provide his own caddie.There are no caddies available through the host club.

 

DRIVING RANGE

Is provided free of charge to all players and will be open starting one hour before the first starting time.

 

FOOD SERVICE

Complimentary water and energy bars/bananas will be available on the first and tenth tees.

 

TRANSPORTATION/CART REQUESTS

Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Appendix I of The Rules of Golf will be in effect.

 

If a player or caddie would like to request the use of a cart, they must complete the paperwork on the USGA website.

 

RAIN DATE

If required, the rain date will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

 

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

  • Distance Measuring Devices: A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. For more information, visit www.usga.org/dmd
  • "One Ball" Condition: The “One Ball" Condition will be in effect. This condition requires players to use the same brand and type of golf ball throughout the stipulated round. Please refer to (click here) Appendix 1; Part B - Conditions of the Competition; 1-b (Specification of the Ball).
  • Pace of Play: The NYSGA's Pace of Play policy will be utilized at this qualifier (click here).
  • Notice to Competitors: Players will receive the Notice to Players and Hole Location sheet on the first tee prior to their tee time.

 

“GROOVE AND PUNCH MARK SPECIFICATION” CONDITION
Clubs: Grooves – The player’s clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010 – See Decision 4-1/1 and championship entry for details.

 

WITHDRAWALS FROM QUALIFYING

If a player withdraws from Qualifying, he must notify the USGA (908-326-1950 or via e-mail at champs@usga.org). If the withdrawal occurs on the morning of the qualifier, please call or text the official-in-charge noted below.
